Project 365 Week 32

August Days.  We're back from our vacations and starting to get more into the swing of things at home again.  Yes, this is our everyday.  Well, it might not be everyday that our youngest gets to enjoy ice cream with her 95-year-old great-grandpa.  But hanging around (quite literally, sometimes) outside and working on the house?  Yes, these are the days.

Project 365 Week 31

Vacation!  It's been four years since we've been to the beach, and our little one finally got a chance to dip her toes into the ocean.  I expected her to be scared and very hesitant, but as you can see, she adored the surf and the sand.  The boys were, of course, very active on vacation.  Fortunately, thanks to some extra help from Grandma and Grandpa, an aunt, and an uncle, we actually had some time to sit back relax, and read a book (gasp!).

Project 365 Week 30

Beautiful sunshine!  Yes, I adore natural light, and one of my favorite things about summer is the abundance of sunshine and all of the time that we get to spend outdoors.

Project 365 Week 29

Living life on the lake:  We spent the week in NY on a family vacation with lots of cousins.  What a perfect place to try out my new camera and work on capturing my daily photo.  It was a (mostly) peaceful and relaxing week spent on the water, and I promise that I did try to put down the camera every now and then to join in the fun!

Project 365 Week 28

Summertime?  Fun times!  From swim team to fresh cherries, afternoon naps (necessary after playing hard all day) to musical camp, family visits to motorcycle rides . . . wait, what?  Don't worry, the 6-year old isn't quite old enough to drive one yet.  All of this led to the start of our summer vacation at the lake with more to follow next week.

Project 365 Week 27

We were fortunate enough to travel to NY this weekend to see two of our friends tie the knot!  I took many, many photos at their wedding (still going through them!), but you can see two of these photos for Friday and Saturday's photos of this week.  And I can't forget all of the fun that we had during the week itself - pool days, water fun, and a visit from Grandma and Grandpa while Mom and Dad were way for the weekend.  Hope that you're enjoying summer as much as we are!

Project 365 Week 26

What a fabulous week!  For a nice change, my photos are focused a little more on my boys than our little girl this week.  Monday's photo features our middle child practicing his breaststroke during swim lessons - swimming a full length of the pool is a huge milestone that he finally met this week!  You can also see his 6-year old toes (where did these big feet come from?!?) practicing his balance on the slackline.  But when it comes to details, you can't forget about our 8-year old's killer eyelashes (yes, I'm definitely envious).  I also took the kids to their first big-time amusement park where many thrills were experienced, just on different levels for each of the kids.  And let's not forget about the annual 4th of July parade; our house is fully stocked with candy which should last us until Halloween.  See you next week!

Project 365 Week 25

Arts & Crafts.  Our children attended VBS at our church this week (a six-month planning effort that culminated in an awesome week).  So several of this week's photos feature some of the Arts and Crafts that the kids worked on, or little legs working on those projects.  You may also notice one amazing big brother who patiently let his little sister paint his fingernails bright pink (this was quickly removed several minutes later).  Lastly, the week culminated in two solid days of hard rain.  So my husband took advantage of the rainy weather to organize his garage (his personal sanctuary).

Project 365 Week 24

It's summertime!  I'm very fortunate to spend much of these summer days with the kids.  This means mornings swim team practices almost every day, summer reading at the library (one of our favorite activities), bright pink nails for lounging poolside (there's actually very little lounging that occurs), and trying to convince a certain 3-year-old to continue her naptime through these summer months.  Wish me luck with that last one . . .

Project 365 Week 23

It's the last week of school with celebrations all around!  The week brings brings bright colors as well as small details . . . and now the real fun of summer vacation begins!

Project 365 Week 22

After being cooped up inside all winter, we are loving the outdoors!  Hopefully, you will begin to notice more sunny-themed posts coming your way over the next few months.  This week features more time on the swings at baseball practice, some actions shots of the boys during baseball, kicking through laps at the pool, and outdoor dining with the little ones.  Hope that you enjoy!

Project 365 Week 21

The pool is open!  Memorial Day marked the unofficial start of summer and gave us a chance to hang out poolside.  Summer also means water fun, yellow jackets (nasty little buggers), a new cut and color for me,  and, unfortunately for two of our three kids, a stomach virus.  Fortunately, everyone is now on the mend, and ready to be poolside again!

Project 365 Week 20

A beautiful week in May . . . Stella has learned to pump her legs on the swings (which frees me up to grab the camera!). Then . . .  she decided to  take a nap while riding the tractor around the yard with Daddy.  Next . . . as I fought off a nasty spring head cold (hence the hot tea), we traveled to Grandma and Grandpa's house to help prepare for a backyard shed.  We finished off the week with a Memorial Day picnic complete with s'mores and lots of great conversations (and kickball!) with friends.

Project 365 Week 19

Spring brings such beautiful colors and beautiful opportunities!  We've been trying to take advantage of the lovely time outdoors, spinning on the lawn, visiting with the ducklings, going on an exploration trip to examine bugs in the local streams, and backyard water fights (the rules seem to change on a daily basis).  Hopefully, the rest of spring will be filled with lots of greenery in my P365 images!

Project 365 Week 18

To change things up a little bit, several of the photos this week focus on the details.  From business cards to baseballs (ripped apart by my six year-old slugger) to collectors' books, it was a chance to capture a different perspective.  Oh, and it was a certain three year-old's first time fishing.

Project 365 Week 17

The sun is out, and that means that we're spending much more time outside as well (even if the rare chilly day requires me to grab the winter coats).  This week also culminated in my very first Broad Street 10 Miler run.  My feet are still recovering, but it was the longest run of my life, and it was a great accomplishment along with an exciting run!  If only I could have brought the camera along during the run . . .

Project 365 Week 16

Break out the tutus, spring is on it's way!  While the weather was still mostly cold and rainy this week, we still managed to fit in some sunshine.  We celebrated three (yes, three!) birthdays on Saturday, and it's always wonderful to get together with our families.  And by the time the weekend rolled around, we also managed to fit in a few baseball games for our boys.

You'll even find a photo of me in this week's collection; while I was shooting some photos of my 8 year-old son at the Lion Shrine on PSU's campus, he asked if he could take one of me.  So even though I did the editing, this is HIS work, and he's very proud of it!

Project 365 Week 15

April always seems to bee (pun intended for Monday's photo) a busy month for us, but I like to try to slow down every now and then to appreciate the details.  Muddy cleats on the floor (well, that's a mudroom is for, right?).  The first signs of spring with some color outside.  Chains on the tractor as my husband removes the snow plow and preps it for the summer.  Among all of the details, two of our little ones have birthdays this month, so we're kicking into high gear as they enjoy turning another year older (and I just want to hold their hugs a little longer).

Project 365 Week 14

Things are finally warming up here in Central Pennsylvania, and we couldn't be happier about that!  Of course, just because the warm weather is here doesn't mean that the sun is shining (April showers, right?)  I hope that you enjoy the collection of photos this week as we move from the cold, dark interior rooms to the bright, airy feel of being outside.

Project 365 Week 13

I took part in a "Clean Eating Challenge" this week with some friends.  To help keep me accountable and to add some fun to it all, I decided to focus my "photo of the day" on one meal or snack from the day's menu.  Mouth-watering food photography was definitely a lot of fun this week (and yes, most of the meals tasted just as good as they looked!).  For the record, the challenge ended on Saturday, so Easter Sunday was enjoyed at our family gathering with a little messier menu and features a photo of an appetizer that my brother made!
